Current Programs
Oceans of Gratitude focuses on direct care/ high efficacy programming. How do we have the greatest impact with the limited resources we have is a lesson we have learned first hand from living and working with the I-Kiribati people - making due with what you have, smiling all along and being grateful for it. For us, this involves leveraging the close relationships we have created over the years of working in Kiribati. By hacking bureaucracy, and enabling local community leaders with the contacts and resources they need.
TESL Distance Tutoring / Faculty Professional Development: By providing donated hardware and generators to local schools, as well as partnering the local schools with TESL professionals abroad, Oceans of Gratitude is able to supplement the English language curriculum for local schools. For I-Kiribati, proficiency in the English language is a golden ticket for future employment opportunities within Kiribati, and abroad. These internet access programs also provide opportunities for local Kiribati faculty pursue their own continuing professional development to be the most potent educators they can be.
“CARE Team” Medical Missions: Mixed groups of health care professionals travel directly to Kiribati for week-long direct care efforts which include ad-hoc clinical treatments for locals as well as transporting donations of medical supplies and devices. These mission efforts are conducted in cooperation with local health care providers and offer incredible training opportunities for local personnel. After completing its’ first direct care medical mission in April 2026, and because of the incredible demand for such programs, Oceans of Gratitude is planning to grow these offerings. Depending on donations- we are laying the groundwork to lead three missions per year to Kiribati. With each mission focusing on specific local need, i.e, dental, pre/peri-natal, inoculations, provider trainings, to name a few.
Pre & Peri-Natal Nutrition with VITAMIN ANGELS: Oceans of Gratitude is the proud recipient of an in-kind Grant Award from Vitamin Angels. This materials grant consists of Pre & Peri-Natal nutrition and vitamin supplementation to help fight the causes of the incredibly high infant mortality rates that are seen on Kiritimati and Fanning Island. Together with Vitamin Angels, Oceans of Gratitude is will be distributing these vital supplements and vitamins, as well as training local providers on their use and efficacy.
