English education & faculty development — Line Islands schools
Two years of continuous English education have cost just $5,000. The next step is expanding access across classrooms on both islands.
The Need
For I-Kiribati students, English proficiency opens doors to higher education and to employment in Kiribati and abroad, including seafaring and tourism. Yet qualified English teachers are scarcest on the outer islands, where schools have limited staff and resources.
The Program
Oceans of Gratitude provides donated hardware and generators to local schools and connects classrooms with TESL professionals overseas for distance tutoring. The same connection supports professional development for local faculty—strengthening, not replacing, island teachers.
The program has run continuously for two years on $5,000 in founding-team donations, demonstrating how far modest funding can go when overhead is kept low.
