Pre & Perinatal Nutrition

In partnership with Vitamin Angels — Kiritimati & Fanning Island

$23,000 delivers prenatal nutrition to 2,000 mothers and children and trains local providers to manage the program.

The Need

Kiribati’s recorded infant mortality rate is roughly 35–40 deaths per 1,000 live births, compared with 5–6 in the United States. Many deaths occur far from clinics and may go unreported. Preventable causes include birth complications, infection and malnutrition, making maternal nutrition a high-impact, low-cost intervention.

The Program

Oceans of Gratitude has secured an in-kind grant from Vitamin Angels for prenatal and perinatal multivitamins for 2,000 mothers and children on Kiritimati and Fanning Island, with distribution planned for winter 2026/27.
